New Workshops for 2017

We are pleased to share that two Arcadia alums and our A&C counselor will be offering workshops – Stress Reduction, Writing and Nature Watercolor Painting – during our August 20th – 26th Family Camp week. This summer Andrea Bowen, alum from the 1960s and 1970s, will be offering course on Stress Reduction. She has taught stress reduction techniques and the skills needed to increase an individual’s ability to persevere in her role as a private therapist and then an elementary guidance counselor. Andrea’s life experiences have also been her teacher. Please join us for a dynamic, hands-on, experiential exploration of our individual reactions to the stressors in our lives and learn how to be our own best friend. Amy Gordon leads our writing workshops, including poetry, memoir and fiction writing. Amy first came to Camp Arcadia in 1964 as a member of the Club and stayed for fifteen summers. She taught sailing and loved going on mountain trips. Through teaching at Arcadia, she learned that she liked working with kids, and most of her adult life she taught drama at the Bement School in Deerfield, Massachusetts. She has published poetry as well as ten books for middle-school readers and young adults. Retired from Bement, she leads writing workshops in her community and is working on an M.F.A. in Poetry at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. Anne Alexander, local artist and Camp Arcadia A&C counselor for four summers, will be offering two workshops, Nature Watercolor Painting and Contour Drawing in Nature.  The Workshop will be held for one hour each day during the week. These courses are offered as part of our activity program during the week and do not require additional costs.  The course will be run with plenty of time to enjoy all of Camp Arcadia. Participants in the workshops have the option of adult only housing or with your own family. For more information on our August 20th – 26th Family Camp week click here or email
