I'm taking great graduate classes like individual counseling, group counseling, risk and resilience, and have an internship at a public charter school in the college placement office. There are so many skills I learned as a counselor at Arcadia that have helped me stay one step ahead in my graduate classes and in my professional life; I understand everything on a different level. -Mia Ritter
Our Mission
Make the world better and more beautiful because you have been in it.
Our Goals
1. To build confidence and skills so that girls will find their place in the world, contribute to the diverse communities to which they belong, and include others in their adventures.

2. To encourage healthy risk-taking through the exploration of new areas of learning and group living so girls will have the confidence to listen with compassion, take initiative with unselfishness, and face new challenges with strength.
3. To heighten their sensitivity to and awareness of the outdoors so girls will respect and care for living things, the environment, and one another.

4. To develop interpersonal skills, establish lasting friendships, and cultivate understanding and respect for others who may be different from them, including, but not limited to, individuals of varying abilities, cultures, genders, races, and faith traditions.

Location and Weather
Camp Arcadia is in Otisfield, Maine on Pleasant Lake. The quaint town of Casco is about a mile away, equipped with a post office, convenience store, library, and local food shops. Additional grocery stores, restaurants, and shopping centers are just a short 20-30 minutes away from camp. The closest major city is Portland, which is about an hour away and is a dynamic, fun, and historical hub for shopping, dining, and culture on the coast of Maine.
Maine summer weather is known for its beautiful, clear, 70°F days (at Camp Arcadia we call days like these an RMD - A Real Maine Day!). We’re also known to experience some rain, especially in June, and temperatures can range from mid 50°F to low 90°F. We’ll send you a full packing list but here’s a hint: you’ll want to bring your bathing suit, rain coat, wool socks, sunscreen, and a sweater!
Meals
The food at Arcadia is great! We eat most meals family style, one meal served at each table, some days we have meals in the great out of doors. Counselors sit at tables with a mixed age grouping of campers. There is also a fruit, oatmeal and yogurt bar at breakfast and a salad bar at lunch and dinner. Camp Arcadia offers gluten-free and vegetarian options.

"You have a lot of fun, and at the end of the day, you see the faces of the girls and it's all worth it. You're also outside! Not inside an office... I really appreciate that."
- Beca Rodriguez, Head of Tennis
Staff Fun and Free Time
Our staff lounge provides space to relax with your team. The staff lounge has Wifi, a secure locker to charge your personal devices, and games and sports equipment to enjoy during free time. Whether it is our outings during Orientation, surprise staff snacks or swag, or our end-of-summer staff party, it’s important to us that our team have time to laugh and unwind in between supporting our campers.

Each week staff have one day off, and they love to take advantage of the beauty and wonder of Maine. Often, they hike in the white mountains of Maine and New Hampshire, take a trip to Portland or Freeport for sightseeing and shopping or enjoy a day at the beach. There are many lakes in the region for canoeing, kayaking, and swimming, and Hackers Hill (a destination only minutes away from camp) provides an exceptional 360-view of Maine.
We are Dedicated to Staff Development
Camp Arcadia values training and staff development for our people. All our staff will have access to invaluable skill-building, leadership training, and enrichment opportunities that can’t be found anywhere else! Regardless of your university major or current career path, we are confident that our camp experiences and provided training of both internal and external expertise will allow you to learn and develop skills that will enhance your skills this summer…and beyond!
Our Commitment to the Staff Experience
We want all of our staff to have a blast each summer developing themselves and our campers. We have developed a strong network of leaders and returning counselors to support our staff community. The Residential Life department provides ongoing problem-solving and guidance on camper topics, the Activity team will coach you through teaching and leading in your activity, and our Wellness Center team is available to provide additional personal support to staff as needed. Through weekly meetings and optional 1x1 check-ins, these teams, as well as our Camp Directors, are committed to providing the structure, sounding board, and resources you need to thrive this summer!
